William J. O’Connell III, Managing Director

William J. O’Connell is a business consultant, specializing in the area of corporate and organizational growth strategies. He has a unique blend of more than 20 years of international corporate and early stage experience in turnarounds and growing companies. He is the founder of and continues to lead the Bonaventure Partners, a coalition of leading business consultants with deep experience in multiple functions across an array of categories.

Prior to founding the Bonaventure Partners, Mr. O’Connell was a portfolio partner at Cardinal Growth, a private equity fund where he consulted with the leadership of portfolio companies, evaluating their business models, assessing their management teams, reviewing financial projections and performance, implementing strategic growth initiatives and acquisition roll-up with subsequent exit strategies.

He moved to Cardinal Growth from Agilent Technologies/Hewlett Packard, where he was vice president, NAO Operations, Safco Division. He also was director of strategic accounts at Sony Electronics, Inc.

Mr. O’Connell has a unique proprietary approach for assessing a situation, and then creates the strategy to reach the goal.

Mr. O’Connell earned an M.B.A. degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Loyola University of Chicago. He is a member of the Board of Advisors of Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Chicago, Director Board of Advisors 100 Club of Chicago and active with Kennedy Child Study Center of Manhattan. He also holds dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland.

Edward Dunne Corboy, Jr., M.D., J.D, Senior Advisor

Dr. Corboy is an entrepreneurial and proactive physician and attorney with background in medicine, law, pharmaceuticals, entrepreneurship, health law, and patient and parent advocacy. He is currently a practicing health attorney, patient advocate and health care and life science consultant.

He had a highly successful nine year work experience at G.D. Searle & Co., with a very diverse career path in multiple Searle departments including: Phase III Clinical Research, Corporate Technology Planning, U.S. Operations Marketing, U.S. Medical Education and U.S. Issues Management. Dr. Corboy has an established reputation as a leader and innovator and at Searle. He worked directly with and for Sheldon G. Gilgore, M.D., Chairman & CEO ofG.D. Searle for over two years as Dr. Gilgore's personal corporate innovation planning consultant.

Following Searle experience, Dr. Corboy consulted with Knoll Pharmaceuticals on the pre-launch planning for Meridia. He also worked closely with Dr. Ron Goode, CEO of Unirned Pharmaceuticals, and the entire Unimed organization, to help coordinate a highly scientific medical and scientific affairs management, innovative and highly scientific medical-marketing and sales force training. Over period of two years, he also worked closely on two product launches by Unirned. In addition, at the request of Dr. Goode, Dr. Corboy spearheaded the internal coordination the development of a three month strategic planning process that ultimately led to the acquisition ofUnirned by Solvay Pharma, U.S. for in excess of$120 million.

Dr. Corboy has proven success as a highly proactive entrepreneur with The Golden Retriever® Reacher (a highly unique, best in class general purpose reacher or pick-up tool) that he conceived, developed, marketed and sold all across the U.S. The product was sold by major chains including Walgreens, CVS, and achieved national distribution in over 9,000 retail pharmacies and worked with multiple drug wholesalers and hospitals. He was featured on NBC's Today Show, Crain's Chicago Business, as well as Paul Harvey News Radio for entrepreneurial success.

He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University, his medical degree from Northwestern University and his law degree from Loyola University of Chicago Law School. Dr. Corboy also received post-graduate medical training in internal medicine at Northwestern University Medical School.

Jack Downing, Senior Advisor

Jack Downing, a founding member of WorldBridge Partners, is a nationally recognized expert in the Technology Industry. He leads the Technology practice group for WorldBridge Partners and has successfully completed over 700 searches worldwide. Jack began his executive search career in 1992, and in 1997 he opened the Chicago office. Since 1997 he has grown the Chicago office to 8 search consultants and they have received numerous national awards for being one of the fastest growing search firms. In addition to his work at WorldBridge Partners, Jack started the RPO (Recruitment Process Outsourcing) Division WorldConcert. 

Jack earned his BA from Loras College and his MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. He is a founding member of the Illinois Venture Capital Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the Staffing Management Association of Greater Chicago and on the Board of Directors. He also serves on the Advisory Board of R3 Biofuels and on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago where Jack was matched as a Big Brother for over eight years.

James E. Kline, Managing Director & Senior Advisor

Mr. Kline has a strong background in mergers and acquisitions, securities, tax, risk management and compliance, governance and international business, and has conducted business extensively in Europe and in Asia-Pacific, particularly in the People’s Republic of China. He has extensive experience in information technology, data and voice communication. He also has had significant involvement with product liability, litigation management, arbitration, mediation and insurance issues, and is an American Arbitration Association neutral.

He served as Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company (NYSE:CTB) for eight years and was a member of its Executive Committee. Cooper Tire is the eighth largest tire manufacturer in the world. At Cooper Tire, which was a Fortune 500 company, Mr. Kline had responsibility for global legal, environmental and risk management, compliance and governance functions.

Prior to joining Cooper Tire, Mr. Kline was Vice-President, General Counsel and a member of the Corporate Management Committee of Trinova Corporation ( name of which was changed to Aeroquip-Vickers, Inc.), a global manufacturer of power and motion control and fluid conveyancing products and systems. Aeroquip-Vickers, a former NYSE listed and Fortune 500 company, is now a part of Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN). At Aeropquip-Vickers, he had responsibility for legal, risk, tax and information technology on a global basis.

Mr. Kline began his career in private practice of law, where he specialized in corporate, merger and acquisitions for twenty-two years, representing a number of Fortune 500 companies, including banks and manufacturers.

He was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University Of Toledo College Of Law where he taught Corporate Finance and Business Planning. He is a co-author of Andersen Publishing’s Ohio Corporate Law and chaired the Ohio State Bar Association Corporate Law Committee and the Manufacturers Alliance Law Council.

Active in civic affairs, he has served on the boards of a number of civic organizations, including Toledo Zoo ( President), Toledo-Lucas County Chamber of Commerce (Chair ), Lourdes University (Chair), Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (Chair), Kidney Foundation ( President), Crosby Gardens ( Chair), Toledo Symphony, Ronald MacDonald House, St. John’s Jesuit High School, Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, the Toledo Club and ProMedica HERC and Foundation. Mr. Kline also has served on the boards of a number of for-profit entities.

Mr. Kline received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University (recipient of 2011 Alumni Medal), and his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He also completed the SEP program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

John Mangas, Senior Advisor

John has broad and varied experience with residential real estate sales as well as residential land development. He has worked closely with residential home builders and has a deep understanding of residential home sales and marketing. He began his career in real estate while in college and achieved his brokerage license soon thereafter. John also has had extensive experience in real estate sales management, and was the managing broker for one of the largest independent agencies in Northwest Ohio.

Mr. Mangas currently is the co-founder and co-owner of a RE/MAX brokerage firm which has the second largest in market share in Northwest Ohio and boasts over 85 associates. He is a life member of the Million Dollar Club and serves as a State Director of the Ohio Association of Realtors. John has also served in numerous other positions in realtor organizations.

He is deeply involved in community affairs, including the Children’s Miracle Network, Susan B. Komen for the Cure and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. John attended the University of Toledo.

Hugh J. Morgan, Senior Advisor

Mr. Morgan is a certified public accountant and an attorney who works with small and medium sized, closely-held business organizations in matters of tax and business planning, mergers and acquisitions, business valuations, shareholder dispute resolution and representation before the Internal Revenue Service and other taxing authorities.

Hugh was the Partner-In-Charge of the Deloitte & Touche Toledo, Ohio office where he was responsible for accounting, tax and consulting services to the Toledo office clients.

He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toledo and a catalyst for the founding of its Masters of Taxation program. He was also an instructor at numerous Deloitte & Touche technical, professional development and management seminars. In addition, he serves as an American Arbitration Association neutral.

Hugh has provided leadership to a number of community and business organizations, including the Great Lakes Communications, Inc., Jennings Center for Older Adults, Walsh Jesuit High School, Deaconess Foundation, Leadership Toledo and the Edward O. Lamb Charitable Foundation.

Mr. Morgan received a Bachelor in Science in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from John Carroll University and a Juris Doctor degree (Cum Laude) from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He also received a Certificate in Advanced Management Studies from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

George J. Mutter, Senior Advisor

George is an accomplished accounting professional with extensive experience across multiple areas of the U.S. tax laws and across multiple industries. He has a superior ability to assess and discuss complex financial matters and easily interacts with peers and non-accounting professionals.

Mr. Mutter served as the practice leader of the PriceWaterhouse/PriceWaterhouseCoopers Toledo, Ohio office as well as Tax Practice Leader of the firm’s Minneapolis office and as Engagement Partner in its Chicago office. More recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer of a significant privately held enterprise. Currently, and in addition to his consulting practice, George is a Visiting Instructor at the University of Toledo School of Business.

George received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Business Administration from Wayne State University.

Perry Palma Gil, Senior Advisor

Mr. Palma Gil is an international relationship management and new business development professional with extensive experience in cash management, trade finance, international brokerage operations and financial advisory services. Specializing in Latin America, PRC and European banking, he has assisted businesses understand and deal with the complexities of cross-border transactions, including regulatory compliance.

He has held a number of positions with The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, both in the United States and in Spain, as well as with Sebroker Bolsa S.A. and 27 Graus Nord, S.L., both in Barcelona, Spain.

Perry holds a degree in International Studies from Kenyon College, a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Masters of Business Administration from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.

He is bilingual in English and Spanish and fluent in Portuguese and Catalan. He is a dual citizen of the United States and of Spain.

George Richards, Senior Advisor

Mr. Richards has extensive Fortune 250 experience and expertise in Information Technology strategy, service delivery and infrastructure projects. His accomplishments include outsourcing and contracting, distributed systems management, network communications and services and facility infrastructure implementation.

George managed information technology for Eaton Corporation in Asia Pacific, India, and Europe and in North America, as well as managing centralized and distributed information services on an international basis for Aeroquip-Vickers Corporation, a Fortune 500 company which is now part of Eaton Corporation. He has undertaken business process improvement, QOS and administrative cycle time initiatives. He has managed several successful data center implementations and consolidations. He has also managed the implementation a startup professional services center and a startup truck transmission manufacturing plant.

He received his BSBA from Heidelberg University and has completed numerous advanced programs at the University of Michigan and the Gartner Group IT Forum.

George was an advisor for Junior Achievement Northeast Ohio for seven years. He also served on the Business Advisory Council for Penta Career Center. He is a past member of the Madison Country Club and is a current member at Wildhorse Country Club. He is a supporting member of The Smith Center for The Performing Arts. He is actively involved as a volunteer with the American Heart and Stroke Association.

Jack T. Sculfort, Senior Advisor

Jack has broad managerial experience in financing, sales, marketing and transactional areas in automotive, agricultural, steel processing and large scale real estate development. His experience ranges from project and sales/marketing management with USG Corp, a Fortune 500 company, to serving as Chief Operating Officer of automotive, information technology and steel processing companies and a developer of mixed-use real estate development projects. He has led an independent consulting company since the early nineties and has guided many clients to find and implement strategic imperatives.

A Rotarian, Jack has served as Chair of the Owens Community College Board of Trustees and has and Foundation experience in a variety of other not-for-profit and NGO systems. He has also served as a guest lecturer at several Toledo, Ohio higher educational institutions. Jack also is Entrepreneur in Residence at the Small Business Development Centers in Toledo and Lima, Ohio

Mr. Sculfort received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University and a Masters of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
